CPS Test - Clicks per Second
Click the box as fast as you can for the chosen time to get your clicks per second.
What this tool does
Choose a test length and click the box as fast as you can. The timer starts on your first click and stops when time runs out. Clicks per second (CPS) is the number of clicks divided by the seconds, so 40 clicks in 5 seconds is 8 CPS. The result also shows your best single second.
Counts clicks or taps in a timed window.
Reports CPS, total clicks, best second and clicks per minute.
How to use it
- Choose a time of 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds.
- Click the box as fast as you can.
- The timer starts on your first click.
- Read your CPS and try again.
Why use this test
Counts your clicks over 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds and reports clicks per second, your best single second and clicks per minute. Click speed matters in some games and is a playful benchmark of your mouse hand. Testing for different lengths shows both your burst speed and how well you hold it up.
Why we built it
We built the CPS test to count clicks over 1 to 60 seconds and report the best single second as well as the average. Test your mouse with the mouse test and your reflexes with the reaction time test.
For a neighbouring job there is also the Clicker Counter, the G1 Practice Test (Ontario) and the Mouse DPI Test.
Who this tool is for
- Gamers checking click speed
- Friends competing
- People comparing mice
When to use it
- Warming up for a game.
- Comparing mice and click techniques.
- Friendly competition.
- Seeing how fatigue affects speed.
How it works
CPS = clicks ÷ test length in seconds. The "best single second" is the maximum number of clicks in any 1-second window, found with a sliding window over the click times. Shorter tests show higher CPS because you can sprint.
A click is counted on pointer-down, which covers a mouse button, a touch tap and a pen.
What you give it, and what you get back
| Item | Details |

Frequently asked questions
What is CPS?
Clicks per second: the number of clicks divided by the time in seconds.
What is a good CPS?
Casual clicking is often around 5 to 7 CPS, and fast techniques can reach 10 or more for a few seconds.
How do I click faster?
Practise, relax the hand and try techniques such as jitter or butterfly clicking if your hardware registers them.
Does CPS depend on the mouse?
Yes. The switch type and debounce time affect how fast clicks are registered.
Is the result saved?
No. It stays on the page until you copy or download it.
Is my text or file sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing leaves the page.
