Frequency Converter
Convert a frequency between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, rpm and radians per second.
What this tool does
Frequency is how many cycles happen each second. One kilohertz is 1,000 Hz, one megahertz is 1,000,000 Hz and one gigahertz is 1,000,000,000 Hz. Rotation is often quoted in revolutions per minute: 60 rpm is 1 Hz. Enter a value above to convert it between all the units.
Converts between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz, gigahertz, revolutions per minute, radians per second using exact factors, and shows the factor used.
Updates as you type, and the swap button reverses the direction.
How to use it
- Enter the value in megahertz, or press Swap units to start from gigahertz.
- Pick another unit from the lists if you need a different one.
- Read the result and the factor beneath it.
- Press Copy to copy the result.
Why use this converter
Converts between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz, and to revolutions per minute and radians per second. Radio dials, Wi-Fi bands, processor clocks, audio and motor speeds all quote frequency in different multiples. Converting avoids counting zeros and confusing prefixes.
Why we built it
We built the frequency converter to go between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz and to include rpm and radians per second. The angle converter and time converter cover related quantities.

Who this tool is for
- Radio and electronics hobbyists
- Students of physics
- People comparing Wi-Fi bands or CPU clocks
When to use it
- Reading radio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth frequencies.
- Comparing CPU or memory clocks.
- Converting motor and fan speeds.
- Physics and electronics homework.
How it works
Prefixes are powers of 1,000: kHz = 10³ Hz, MHz = 10⁶ Hz, GHz = 10⁹ Hz. A revolution per minute is 1/60 Hz, so rpm ÷ 60 = Hz, and one radian per second is 1 ÷ 2π Hz (about 0.159 Hz).
| Megahertz | Gigahertz |
|---|---|
| 1 MHz | 0.001 GHz |
| 60 MHz | 0.06 GHz |
| 100 MHz | 0.1 GHz |
| 1000 MHz | 1 GHz |
| 2400 MHz | 2.4 GHz |
| 5000 MHz | 5 GHz |
What you give it, and what you get back
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Value | A number in the "from" unit. Decimals and negative numbers are accepted. |
| From and To | Any of 6 units: Hertz, Kilohertz, Megahertz, Gigahertz, Revolutions per minute, Radians per second. |
| Result | The converted value and the exact conversion factor. |
Issues you may run into
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Result has many zeros | The units differ by powers of a thousand. | Pick a closer unit such as MHz or GHz. |
| Angular frequency expected | rad/s is 2π times Hz. | Use the rad/s unit. |
| Wavelength expected | This converts frequency only. | Wavelength = speed of light ÷ frequency. |
Assumptions and limitations
- Results are shown with practical rounding; the calculation itself uses exact factors.
- It converts a number between units - it does not know what the quantity is.
Frequently asked questions
How many Hz are in a kHz?
One kilohertz is 1,000 hertz.
How do I convert MHz to GHz?
Divide by 1,000. For example, 2,400 MHz is 2.4 GHz.
How do I convert RPM to Hz?
Divide the RPM by 60. 3,000 rpm is 50 Hz.
What is a radian per second?
A unit of angular frequency: 2π rad/s is one revolution per second.
What is 2.4 GHz in MHz?
2,400 MHz.
Is it free and private?
Yes. It runs in your browser.
