What this tool does

A printable label generator lays your details out across a full sheet of labels, and this one matches common label sheet layouts so the grid lines up with the paper rather than drifting. Enter the address or product details once, choose the sheet layout - two-across 99.1 × 38.1 address labels, larger shipping labels, round name labels or a single full-sheet label - and the page fills every position on the sheet. A test print comes first, because the cost of finding a misalignment is one wasted sheet, not a stack of them.

Fills a whole label sheet - name, address or product fields repeated across every label position.

Matches the common label sheet layouts, so the grid lines up with the paper rather than drifting.

Prints a single label or a full page, with a test sheet you can check before committing a pack of paper.

Handles address labels, shipping labels and simple product labels from the same fields.

How to use it

  1. Choose the sheet layout that matches your label paper.
  2. Enter the details that repeat on every label.
  3. Check the on-screen sheet preview.
  4. Print a single test label first, at 100% scale.
  5. Print the full sheet once the alignment is right.

Why use this tool

A printable label generator saves the hour spent in a word processor nudging a text box until the grid matches the paper - the classic problem being that labels come in fixed, unforgiving sizes and a nudge of two millimetres compounds into a misaligned last column. Filling your details in once and repeating them across the sheet's own grid takes the alignment from something you fight to something that is simply the layout. Address labels, shipping labels and product labels all follow the same principle.

Why we built it

We built this label generator to start from a test-sheet step, because every label printing problem is invisible until paper is committed and the test print is the cheap moment to catch it. The sheet layouts are keyed to the standard grid dimensions rather than approximated, so labels land where the paper expects them. The barcode generator adds scannable codes to shipping labels and the bulk QR code generator handles the same job across a whole sheet.

For turning a mailing list into labels, the CSV formatter tidies the address data before it comes over here.

Who this tool is for

  • Anyone mailing envelopes at home or from a small office
  • Small businesses labelling products or shipping boxes
  • Event organisers printing name labels or badges
  • Anyone replacing a one-off label order with prints at home

When to use it

  • Mailing a batch of envelopes or parcels.
  • Labelling products for a market stall or shop.
  • Printing name labels for an event or classroom.
  • Replacing label software that wants an account or a subscription.

How it works

Each sheet layout is a grid: label width, label height, and the gaps between them, laid out from the sheet's top-left corner. Your details render inside one label cell, and the page repeats that cell across the grid, so the page grid and the paper grid are the same numbers. The print stylesheet clips the screen preview down to the printable grid, and printing at 100% - never 'fit to page' - puts each label exactly on its cut.

Label manufacturers publish exact dimensions per product code - check the pack's spec for the sheet width and gap if alignment drifts, and print a plain-paper test first with a label sheet held up to it. Print at 100% / actual size; 'fit to page' scales everything off by a few percent.

Common sheet layouts

Standard label sheet dimensions
LayoutLabel sizePer A4 sheet
Address labels99.1 × 38.1 mm2 × 7 = 14
Small address63.5 × 38.1 mm3 × 7 = 21
Shipping labels99.1 × 67.7 mm2 × 4 = 8
Round name labels40 mm diameter4 × 6 = 24
Single large labelWhole sheet1

The gaps between labels are part of the measurement - a sheet of 24 labels is not 24 evenly divided quarters, and layouts that ignore the margins misalign by the last column.

A worked example

These are the values the generator opens with, so you can see how a filled sheet reads. Enter your own details and the preview updates as you type; the figures below follow the default arrangement.

Example label contents
FieldValue
NameAvery Nakamura
Line 142 Kiln Lane
Line 2Ashford, Kent TN23 4LP
LayoutAddress labels, 24 per sheet

With those inputs, the sheet comes out as:

  • 14 identical labels, each carrying the three lines
  • Grid keyed to 99.1 × 38.1 mm cells, 2 across and 7 down with the standard gaps
  • A single-label test mode for the alignment check first
  • Clean text-only labels - no images, nothing that drinks ink

Assumptions and limitations

Frequently asked questions

What size are standard address labels?

Two shapes dominate: 99.1 × 38.1 mm (14 per A4 sheet, two across and seven down) for parcels and larger envelopes, and 63.5 × 38.1 mm (21 per sheet, three across) for denser address runs. US Letter packs commonly use 66.7 × 25.4 mm at 30 per sheet. Always check the product code printed on your pack, since spacing between labels varies by manufacturer.

How do I print a full sheet of labels?

Choose the layout matching your paper, fill in the details once, print a single test label first on plain paper held up against a label sheet, then print the full sheet at 100% or 'actual size'. Never use 'fit to page' - it scales the grid a few percent off and the last column drifts.

Can I make shipping labels?

Yes - pick the shipping label layout (99.1 × 67.7 mm, 8 per A4 sheet) and use the address fields for the recipient. The larger cell fits several address lines comfortably, and the [barcode generator](/barcode-generator/) can produce a code to add if the shipment needs one.

What label sheet layouts are supported?

Address labels (99.1 × 38.1 mm, 14 per A4 sheet), small address labels (63.5 × 38.1 mm, 21 per sheet), shipping labels (99.1 × 67.7 mm, 8 per sheet), round name labels (40 mm, 24 per sheet) and a single full-sheet label. Each layout is keyed to its exact dimensions including the gaps between labels, which is what keeps the last column aligned.

Can I import addresses from a CSV?

Not directly yet - details are entered by hand and repeated across the sheet. Tidy your data with the [CSV formatter](/csv-formatter/) first so each address is one clean block, then paste it into the label fields.

Is the label generator free?

Yes, completely free with no account, no watermark and nothing uploaded. The sheet is laid out and printed from your browser, and your address details never leave the page.
