Collage Maker
Add your photos, choose a grid, and download them as one collage picture.
Your pictures are combined inside this page and never uploaded.
What this tool does
A collage maker combines several pictures into one image. Add your photos, choose how many columns you want and the shape of each cell, set the gap and background colour, and download the finished collage. This one builds it in your browser, so the photos are never uploaded.
Places your pictures into an even grid of equal cells, scaling and cropping each from the centre so it fills its cell.
Lets you set columns, cell shape, gap and background colour, reorder or remove pictures, and exports the collage as a PNG.
How to use it
- Add your pictures using the box - choose several at once.
- Choose the number of columns and the cell shape.
- Set the gap between pictures and the background colour.
- Use the arrows to reorder pictures, or Remove to take one out.
- Check the preview, then press Download image.
Why use this collage maker
Fills every cell of an even grid with a picture, cropped from the centre, so mixed portrait and landscape photos still line up. A single combined picture is easier to post, print or send than a dozen separate files. A grid with consistent cells looks tidy even when the source photos have different shapes and sizes.
Why we built it
We built the collage maker to fill every cell of an even grid, cropping from the centre so mixed portrait and landscape photos still line up. Join pictures without cropping using merge images and make a review sheet with the contact sheet maker.
Handy alongside this: the Image Splitter.
For a neighbouring job there is also the Sprite Sheet Generator.
Who this tool is for
- Families and event hosts sharing photos
- Social media users
- Teachers making class displays
When to use it
- Making a single image from a set of holiday or event photos.
- Creating a before-and-after or product comparison grid.
- Making a social media post from several pictures.
- Putting a set of photos on one printable page.
How it works
The grid has the number of columns you choose and as many rows as are needed. Every cell is the same size. Each picture is scaled until it covers its cell, and the overflow is cropped equally from both sides, so nothing is stretched.
If the last row is not full, the empty cells simply show the background colour.
Cropping from the centre can cut off edges. If you need every picture shown whole, use Merge Images instead, which joins pictures without cropping.
What you give it, and what you get back
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Input | Several images - JPG, PNG, WebP or similar. |
| Controls | Columns, cell shape, gap, background colour and picture order. |
| Output | One PNG collage, limited to 6,000 px on the longest side. |
| Where it goes | Your Downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded. |
Issues you may run into
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A picture is cropped too much | The cell shape does not match its shape. | Choose a cell shape closer to your photos, or use Merge Images. |
| Collage looks small | The grid was scaled to fit the size limit. | Use fewer pictures or fewer columns. |
| A file was skipped | It is not a readable image. | Check the message and re-add a JPG or PNG. |
| Empty cell at the end | The picture count does not fill the last row. | This is normal - add one more or change the columns. |
Assumptions and limitations
- Equal-size grid cells only - no free-form layouts.
- Pictures are cropped from the centre to fill each cell.
- Output is limited to 6,000 px on the longest side.
- Very large photos are scaled down to 2,000 px before use.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a photo collage?
Add your pictures, choose the number of columns and cell shape, set the gap and background, and download the result. The grid is built in your browser.
Will my photos be cropped?
Yes, each is cropped from the centre to fill its cell. Choose a cell shape close to your photos to keep more of each one, or use Merge Images to avoid cropping.
How many pictures can I add?
There is no fixed limit, but very many large photos can use a lot of memory. A dozen or so works comfortably.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The collage is built in your browser and saved straight to your Downloads folder.
Can I change the order?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows next to each picture in the list.
Can I set the background colour?
Yes. The background shows in the gaps and any empty cells.
