Merge Images
Join several pictures into one, side by side or stacked, scaled to match and with nothing cropped.
Your pictures are combined inside this page and never uploaded.
What this tool does
To merge images, add the pictures, choose whether to join them side by side or top to bottom, and download the combined image. Each picture is scaled to a common height (for a row) or width (for a column) so they line up, and none is cropped.
Joins your pictures in the order shown, in a row or a column, scaling each to the same height or width so the edges match.
Adds an optional gap and background colour between pictures, and exports one PNG.
How to use it
- Add your pictures using the box - choose several at once.
- Choose Side by side or Top to bottom.
- Set a gap if you want one, and a background colour.
- Reorder with the arrows, or remove a picture you do not need.
- Press Download image.
Why use this image merger
Joins pictures edge to edge, scaling each to a common height or width so nothing is cropped and nothing is stretched. Joining screenshots, scans, before-and-after photos or panorama pieces into one image is a common job. Doing it by eye in an editor means matching sizes by hand; here each is scaled to match for you.
Why we built it
We built the merge images tool to scale each picture to a common height or width, so nothing is cropped or stretched. Compare two pictures with the image comparison slider and use a grid with the collage maker.

Who this tool is for
- People joining screenshots or scans
- Designers making before-and-after strips
- Teachers making visual aids
When to use it
- Putting a before and after next to each other.
- Stitching a long screenshot from several parts.
- Joining scanned pages into one image.
- Making a side-by-side comparison picture.
How it works
For a row, every picture is scaled to the height of the shortest one, keeping its proportions, and the pictures are placed left to right. For a column, every picture is scaled to the width of the narrowest, and they are stacked.
Scaling to the smallest dimension means nothing is enlarged beyond its original resolution, so quality is not stretched.
This joins whole pictures. To arrange photos in an even grid with cropping, use the Collage Maker.
What you give it, and what you get back
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Input | Two or more images. |
| Controls | Direction, gap, background colour and picture order. |
| Output | One PNG, limited to 6,000 px on the longest side. |
| Where it goes | Your Downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded. |
Issues you may run into
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pictures look small | They were scaled down to match the smallest. | Use pictures of similar size. |
| Result is scaled down | The joined image exceeds the size limit. | Use fewer pictures or smaller sources. |
| Wrong order | Pictures appear in the order added. | Use the arrows to reorder. |
| Seam is visible | The pictures do not match at the edge. | This joins them as given - it does not blend. |
Assumptions and limitations
- Pictures are joined as given - there is no blending or alignment of overlapping content.
- Scaled to the smallest picture’s height or width.
- Output is limited to 6,000 px on the longest side.
- Very large photos are scaled down to 2,000 px before use.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge two images into one?
Add both pictures, choose Side by side or Top to bottom, and download the result. Each is scaled to match so the edges line up.
Will my images be cropped?
No. Pictures are scaled to a common height or width, not cropped, so the whole of each is shown.
Can I merge more than two?
Yes. Add as many as you like and they are joined in the order listed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are combined in your browser and saved to your Downloads folder.
What is the difference between this and the collage maker?
Merge joins whole pictures in a row or column with no cropping. The collage maker arranges photos in a grid of equal cells and crops each to fit.
