Leet Speak Translator
Type text to turn it into leet speak, or paste leet to decode it.
What this tool does
Leet (1337) speak swaps letters for digits and symbols that look similar: E becomes 3, A becomes 4, S becomes 5, T becomes 7. "Elite" becomes "3l173". Type your text and pick a style - basic, more digits or symbols - and copy the result.
Replaces letters with look-alike digits or symbols at the level you choose.
Decodes leet digits and symbols back to letters as a best guess.
How to use it
- Choose text to leet or leet to text.
- Choose a style: basic, more digits or symbols.
- Type or paste your text.
- Copy the result.
Why use this translator
Converts text to leet speak at three levels: simple look-alike digits, more digits, or full symbol-art letters such as |-| and \/\/. Leet is a playful way to write usernames, gamer tags, memes and puzzles. Doing the substitution by hand is tedious, and different levels suit different uses: digits stay readable, symbols look more extreme.
Why we built it
We built the leet speak translator with three intensity levels and a best-effort reverse. Style text further with the fancy text generator and the cursed text generator.

How it works
The basic style maps A→4, E→3, I→1, O→0, S→5 and T→7. The "more digits" style adds B→8, G→9, L→1 and Z→2. The symbols style uses ASCII look-alikes, such as H→|-|, K→|<, M→|\/| and W→\/\/.
Decoding is a guess because several letters share a digit: 1 could be I or L, and 0 could be O. The reverse mode picks the commoner letter.
Leet substitutions are easy for attackers to guess, so they add almost no strength to a password.
