Worksheet builder

What this tool does

A worksheet builder takes questions you have already written - one per line - and lays them out as a printable practice sheet. You supply the title, the subject, a line of instructions and the questions themselves; the tool numbers them, adds a name and date line at the top, and prints a set of ruled answer lines under each question. The result is paper: a sheet a student works through with a pen, which is a different job from a quiz with options and a key. Everything is assembled in your browser from what you paste.

Pastes your own questions, one per line, and numbers them on a printable sheet.

Adds a title, subject line, instructions and a name and date header you control.

Prints a chosen number of ruled answer lines under every question.

Copies the whole sheet as plain text for a document or a learning platform.

How to use it

  1. Type a title, a subject and one line of instructions for the sheet.
  2. Paste one question per line into the questions box.
  3. Choose how many answer lines each question should get.
  4. Check the preview - numbering, spacing and the header at the top.
  5. Print the sheet, or copy the text into your own document.

Why use this tool

Some practice belongs on paper. A worksheet is worked through with a pen, marked later, and kept in a folder - and for that it needs room to write: numbering that stays consistent, ruled lines under each question, and a name line at the top so the sheet comes back to the right person. Formatting those by hand in a word processor is the part that eats the evening, especially the answer lines, which never line up on the second page.

Why we built it

We built this worksheet builder because the questions were never the problem - the layout was. A list of questions pasted straight into a document has no numbering, no ruled lines and no header, so it gets rebuilt by hand every time a sheet is needed. Here the list goes in one per line and comes out as a sheet with a name and date line, a consistent number of answer lines per question, and a print button. The Quiz Generator makes the multiple choice version with an answer key, and the Flashcard Maker turns the same lines into revision cards.

For arithmetic specifically, the Math Worksheet Generator and the Times Tables Worksheet Generator generate the questions as well as the sheet.

Assumptions and limitations

Frequently asked questions

How do I build a worksheet from my own questions?

Type a title, a subject and an instruction line, then paste one question per line. The tool numbers them, adds ruled answer lines under each one and puts a name and date line at the top.

How many answer lines does each question get?

You choose one to four per question with the answer lines select, and the total is shown in the summary so you can see how much of the page is writing space.

Can I print the worksheet?

Yes. Print outputs the header, the instructions and every numbered question with its answer lines, with the input panel left off the page.

Is this the same as the math worksheet generator?

No. That one generates arithmetic questions for you; this one lays out the questions you already have, on any subject you like.

Where do the questions go after I paste them?

Nowhere. They are read in your browser, used to build the sheet and gone when you close the tab - nothing is uploaded.

Is the worksheet builder free?

Yes, completely free with no account, no watermark and no limits on how many sheets you print.
